The Adventures of Captain Marvel - 1941
When young Billy Batson says the magic words "Shazam!" he turns into Captain Marvel. Here are the 1941 serial episodes, the first ever live action super-hero comic book adaptation!
Captain Marvel was created in 1939 by C.C.Beck (artist) and Bill Parker (writer) and first appeared in Whiz Comics No.2, published by Fawcett Comics. He was as popular, if not more so, in his early years than Superman. His comic life with Fawcett Comics continued until 1953 when the company stopped publishing his stories following a Copyright infringement claim from DC Comics and the Superman character. He came back into the comic world in 1972, this time published by DC themselves who had obtained the rights somewhere in the interim years.
