Books & comics

I've got some public domain comics and books that I'm going to put the links up to, and some reviews of some of my favourite books too. But for now, I just wanted to get a few links to some great comic sites, either offering comics in cbr format, or direct streaming flash comics.

Wowio logo

A great site for reading comics and books online is wowio.com. It's a site that provides a whole host of reading materials, like any bookshop, they do however have an element of protcection to keep mature content for mature viewers.

megazeen logo

Yet another cool site I recently discovered is www.megazeenonline.com which hosts a whole load of digital comics by Christian artists and writers. But lest any of you think 'Oh no, not those sad efforts from the 60s & 70s!' the subtitle of the site is 'Cheese-free Christian Comics' and from what I've seen, they hit the mark most of the time. Some of the them are short one pagers, some longer works. Some are hilarious, some are shocking. It's a great site that's well worth a visit for some Indy great indy comics.

Flashback universe logo

Flashback Universe (http://flashbackuniverse.com) is a site which offers some great original web-based comics, which can also been downloaded in CBR format for viewing on your own computer. Flashback also have links to loads of free public domain comics, notably in the Free Comic Monday post of their blog. A site well-worth checking out and bookmarking.

Visit Digital Comic Museum for Golden Age comics

The Digital Comic Museum is an excellent site with a whole host of public domain comics to download from the Golden Age of comics. Titles include superheros, romance, mystery, crime, horror, etc. Well worth several visits!

ComicRack reader logo

And if you're looking for a good CBR reader, "Comic Rack" is an excellent free programme. It allows you to organise your comic files, create librarires, change views, etc. It was the first CBR reader I ever tried, and I've had no need to look any further for an alternative.
