Scales - fingers
When learning to play scales on the guitar, it's relatively important to use the correct fingers, as opposed to playing every note with the index finger, for example. For most of the scales on this site, the fingering is based on suggestions as given by the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM), which correspond to the follwing images.
Left Hand

Right Hand

The "p i m a" seems a bit weird at first, but basically it just means :
- p = thumb (Spanish 'pulgar')
- i = index finger (Spanish 'indice')
- m = middle finger (Spanish 'Medio')
- a = ring finger (Spanish 'anular')
On the rare occasions where the little finger of the right-hand is used, for example in Flamenco style guitar playing, it's given the annotation X or E.
These files are, for the most part, the author's own work, and the author's own interpretation of the song. They were created and worked out in order to encourage others to experience the joy of learning an instrument and playing music. They also serve to explore songwriting skills, wordcraft, chord structures, perfomance ideas, etc. To this end they are therefore only for private study, scholarship, or research.
